Types of Applications, Steps to Apply, and Release Procedures for Awarded Samples

Types of Applications You Can Submit
We will award biospecimens to research which is deemed by our Peer Review Process to have the greatest opportunity to achieve our goal of accelerating the development of biomarkers of TB drug effect. Please note that there will be three types of applications which will be accepted, based on which criteria you meet:
You have secured funding to execute your proposed plan;
You have applied for funding but funding has not been confirmed;
You have not applied for funding because you need provisional approval to receive samples in order to submit a grant or application.
PLEASE NOTE: Any awards of samples are considered CONDITIONAL until final requirements are met; no samples will be shipped until Final Release Procedures have been completed.

Contact Us to talk about your potential TB Biomarker Validation project. We'd like to answer any questions you have about the Biorepository and its contents, and discuss the most staightforward way for you to submit your application in order to smooth the application process for you. We'd also like to gain an understanding of the types and numbers of biospecimens you might need for your project to help insure the attainment of success for your project as well as the Biorepository's goals. 3. Submit Application
We will provide you the TB Biorepository Application Format after our discussion with you; your application will be submitted via email. When you send your application, please indicate in the email which of the three types of applications (described above) you are submitting. You may submit addenda, as long as you highlight or otherwise direct us to specific content you would like to have included in your application's review. Your application will be quickly acknowledged, then reviewed for completeness.
4. Review and Award Decision
You will be notified immediately if your application is not complete, and when it has been sent to the Peer Review Committee (PRC) for review. You may receive questions during the PRC's review process, and will be provided a timeline for responding to those questions. Upon a decision by the PRC, you will be notified of the decision and will receive comments along with that notice.
If your proposal for biospecimens is not approved, you may be offered an opportunity for a one-time resubmission within a defined timeframe, to address specific concerns of the PRC.
If your proposal for biospecimens is approved, you will receive instructions regarding the subsequent steps for receipt of samples. We will also inform you of the length of time the samples will be reserved for completion of steps to receive the biospecimens, described below.
Release Procedures for Awarded Samples from the TB Biorepository
Before any biospecimens are shipped, we will require the following:
Proof of funding secured;
A jointly executed Material Transfer Agreement/Material Use Agreement; the TB Alliance will execute on behalf of the TB Biorepository;
Agreed timeline for execution of research utilizing the samples, with confirmation of funding for that entire duration;
Agreement to pay for costs of retrieval, packing and shipping of the samples from the UK to your facility;
Agreement to provide periodic progress reports to the CTB2, as well as final results;
Agreement to maintain security for the samples;
Agreement to credit the CTB2 Biorepository as the source of samples in any publication or presentation;
Any specific ad hoc requirements set by the PRC based on your specific application.
